Excitement for Opening Night/Tech Week

As this year’s production of “School of Rock The Musical: Youth Production” gets closer to opening night, my excitement grows each day knowing that I’ll be able to shine on stage along with my fellow cast mates. I think that this has by far been one of the best productions with NewArts to date. The process of working with the cast and crew has been amazing and it’s going to be so hard to let it go when it’s all over.

Personally, my favorite types of rehearsals are Band Practices and Run Throughs of the show. I like these because I get to drum for most of the time. Drumming is my biggest hobby. I’ve been drumming for as long as I can remember so it’s become a big part of my life by now. Having people who can play music and enjoy doing it, just makes it even more fun. I’m very excited for opening night and I think tech week is going to be even more exciting because that’s when we see how all the work we did paid off to make an incredible show. Learning everything we needed to learn was hard work and took several weeks before we could perfect it to where it is now.

The NewArts foundation has been the most amazing experience of my life so far. I made so many new friends over the years, and every year here tops the last. It’s a place where cultural and racial differences don’t matter, it’s a place where I feel safe to be. It’s my home away from home.
